Jay Charleston
Jay Charleston, an 11 year old in the Altamonte Sports & Programs Flag Football program is a gifted athlete that is able to do amazing things on the football field. His speed and quickness is something that you normally do not see in a kid his age. This season in the Flag Football League, Jay played in both the 9-11 year old division and the 12-14 year old division. Jay was recognized as a league All-Star in both divisions of play.
In the 9-11 year old division he led the Cowboys to a 9-1 regular season record. As for the 12-14 year old division Jay continued to excel and help the Cowboys go undefeated in the regular season. Both his teams in each age division reached the championship game with the 9-11 year old division Cowboys capturing the Championship.
Jay’s dedication for athletics is also seen in the classroom. He is a 6th grader at Teague Middle School with a passion for mathematics and a straight “A” student.
The most impressive attribute about his performance on the football field is his sportsmanship. When you watch Jay he will never argue about a call, celebrate excessively on the field or embarrass anyone on the opposing team. One can conclude from Jay’s performance is that he takes pride in participating for the enjoyment of the game. Jay is an athlete that leaves it all on the field and he is able to make plays on the football field that make your head spin.
